October List • Cat Morley

My list of spooky, cosy and creative things to-do in October.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year. There's something in the air and I love wrapping up, grabbing a hot coffee and going for walks while crunching leaves underfoot. However, the change in the season can affect me in a negative way when the short days that go dark earlier suck up my energy. So, to prepare and keep up the happiness, I've put together a list of my favourite things which are sure to keep us in a great mood for the whole month.

1. Wear animal ears

Even though I like to wear animal ears all year long, it's actually acceptable to wear them outside in October with Halloween as an excuse. I plan to wear mine most days, including my new brainwave cat ears.

2. Bake candy apples

Candy apples are one of my favourite Halloween treats and when it gets cold outside, baking is the perfect way to warm up the kitchen.

3. Watch scary movies

I'm a total wimp when it comes to scary movies, so I've not seen many, but I plan to watch a couple at least to get in the mood for Halloween. Do you have any suggestions?

4. Feed the squirrels

I love to feed the squirrels all year, but it feels like we're doing them a favour in October and helping them bulk up for winter.

5. Make a leaf wreath

Add a touch of fall to your door with a DIY leaf wreath. Check out my how-to to make your own, it's so easy and really cheap. Combine it with suggestions 4, 6, 7 & 8 it would be the perfect day.

6. Snap shadow photos

I've mentioned shadow photos before but they're perfect for giving your Halloween photos and extra creepy look.

7. Drink pumpkin lattes

A delicious pumpkin latte is the perfect way to warm up on a cold day and Starbucks just got theirs in. I want mine with the salted caramel on top.

8. Wrap up & take walks

October is the perfect month for taking long walks in the park. Wrap up warm, pick up your pumpkin spice latte and get ready to crunch some leaves before it gets too cold to leave the house.

9. Carve pumpkins

It wouldn't be Halloween without a pumpkin. I'm still trying to come up with an awesome idea for our one this year.

10. Make a scary costume

It's time to start crafting your Halloween costume. Get an early start to make sure it's super scary and avoid long queues in the costume store.

What's on your to-do list this October?
